Architectural expanded metal mesh and perforated metal panels are increasingly being used on and in commercial buildings to provide reduced solar heat gain, privacy, views, ventilation, and aesthetics. Architectural metal products can also add texture, reflectivity, and vibrancy to new buildings or refresh an outdated façade without incurring the significant costs that accompany a complete exterior renovation. This course will examine design options and applications for expanded mesh and perforated metal and review how to choose the appropriate metal product for your design.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine how architectural expanded mesh is produced and design options for the product.
  • Explore how perforated metal is manufactured and design options for the product.
  • Determine how to choose the appropriate architectural metal product for your design.
  • Identify applications for expanded mesh and perforated metal and explore case studies where the materials were used.

Pre-requisite: Basic knowledge of architectural expanded mesh.
